Sydney-based singer-songwriter Susan Muranty is capping off a productive stretch with her boldest project to date: the 2026 record Darkness Illuminates Our Light. It follows her 2025 single “Wild For The Country” and lands alongside the standalone release “Night Undresses The Day” — together marking a shift toward a darker, more textured sound for the Church Point-based artist, long associated with alt-country-rock.
An accomplished lyricist with recognition from the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, the UK Songwriting Contest, and the Australian Songwriters Association, Muranty has made her name through raw, emotionally grounded songwriting. Past successes like “Some Loving Left To Do” and “Stop Time With A Kiss” helped land her regularly on iTunes’ singer-songwriter charts. This latest chapter pushes her further inward, matching minimal, layered production with the recurring visual motifs — stars, sky, fire, shadow — that have become central to her writing.
“Night Undresses The Day” carries that same sensibility, its title nodding to the light-versus-dark tension that runs throughout the new album. Following on from 2023’s *Fire Dove* and tracks such as “Ruby Ruby,” Muranty seems less focused on reinvention and more on refining her craft — swapping out the folk-pop warmth of her earlier work for something moodier and more reflective.
