Usein Bekirov

Usein Bekirov was born on February 22, 1982 in Fergana (Uzbekistan). In 1990, he moved with his family to his historical homeland in the city of Simferopol. Usein Bekirov is an honorary citizen of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (2000), an endorser of the KORG company in Ukraine (2020, 2021), a member of the Union of Composers of Ukraine (2021), and an Honored Artist of Ukraine (2021). His music has been longlisted for the Grammy nomination three times. Doctor of Philosophy Head of the Department, Associate Professor of Jazz Music at the Lysenko National Music Academy Senior Lecturer at the Department of Composition at the National Music Academy.

Creative activity: The main vectors of Usein Bekirov’s creativity are academic music and jazz (funk, fusion, and ethno-jazz). His music is folk jazz, an extremely harmonious, organic combination of Ukrainian and Crimean-Tatar folklore with modern jazz trends.

Usein Bekirov is a regular participant in classical music concerts (festivals “Kyiv Music Premieres”, “Kyiv Music Fest”), European jazz festivals, including “HanseStadtFest” (Frankfurt), “Krakov Jazz”, etc., in 2025 he took part in Java Jazz Fest, as well as a regular at major Ukrainian jazz festivals: “Koktebel Jazz Fest”, “Alfa Jazz Fest”, “DoJ”, “Chernihiv Jazz Open”, “Jazzdiligence”, “Jazz Bez”, “Kyiv Open Air” projects “Jazz Kolo” by Igor Zakus, “Theme with Variations.Live” by Oleksiy Kogan.

The musician is known for his collaborations with the world’s leading jazz musicians, including Bill Evans, James Janus, Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, Dennis Chambers, Cenk Erdogan, Ada Rovatti, Ibrahim Maalouf, Hadrien Fero, Sarp Maden, Michael League, Frank Gambale.
