We're Walking It Out

Some songs are carefully planned. Others arrive as a reminder. We’re Walking It Out was one of those songs. Originally written as part of the You’re Still Speaking album; the song was never intended to stand apart from the project. It was simply another chapter in a much larger story—a story of faith, family, legacy, and the enduring impact of a pastor who spent nearly fifty years planting seeds for the Kingdom of God. At the heart of that story was our father. To us, he was Dad. To many others, he was simply Bishop.

For nearly five decades, Bishop faithfully preached the Gospel, counseled families, comforted the hurting, celebrated victories, and pointed people toward Jesus Christ. Long before there was a record label, a recording artist, or a songwriter, there was a man committed to sharing the hope of Christ wherever God called him. My sister, Shelly Fay, and I had the privilege of growing up as preacher’s kids. We witnessed firsthand what ministry looked like beyond the pulpit. We saw the prayers that nobody heard, the sacrifices that nobody saw, and the unwavering faith that carried Bishop through every season of life and ministry. In 2017, our dad went home to be with the Lord. While his earthly ministry came to an end, his influence did not.

Since its release, You’re Still Speaking and its featured single We’re Walking It Out have reached listeners across multiple genres, platforms, and countries.

The album debuted at #10 on the UK iTunes Top Country Chart during the week of March 30, 2026, introducing Shelly Fay’s music to an international audience.

The project also made an immediate impact within Christian and Gospel radio circles, entering the Airplay Express Top 20 Independent Gospel Chart during its very first week of release, a remarkable accomplishment for both a debut artist and a newly launched independent label.

As momentum continued to build, We’re Walking It Out debuted at #14 on the Airplay Express Chart before climbing steadily to #1 in just eleven weeks. Along the way, the song earned both Gold and Platinum recognition through Airplay Express.

Additional milestones included reaching #10 on the CDX Southern Gospel & Positive Country Chart and #64 on the SpinCount Top 150 Global Chart & #29 on the Top SpinCount Counrty Chart.

These seeds would eventually become the foundation for You’re Still Speaking and the inspiration behind We’re Walking It Out. Because when God brings you through what should have broken you, you don’t stop declaring His goodness. You keep believing. You keep moving. You keep walking it out.

That’s why We’re Walking It Out became so personal. The song is more than a collection of lyrics. It is a declaration that faith requires movement. It is the understanding that hearing God’s voice is only the beginning. The next step is obedience. The next step is trust. The next step is walking out what God has placed before us.

For me as the songwriter, and for Shelly as the artist, this project has been exactly that—a walk of faith. When Shelly signed with Love Lyrics & Company in January 2026 as the label’s inaugural artist, we knew we wanted her first original project to be meaningful. There could be no better place to begin than with a tribute to the man who helped shape our faith, our family, and our purpose.

Shelly brought more than her voice to this project—she brought a lifetime of ministry, memories, and a deep understanding of the message behind every lyric.

As my older sister, she shared the same memories, the same lessons, and the same foundation that inspired the songs. She understood the heart behind every lyric because she lived the story too.

Raised in North Carolina and now calling Virginia home, Shelly’s life has been deeply rooted in faith, family, and ministry. As a preacher’s kid, she grew up surrounded by Gospel music, church services, revivals, prayer meetings, and the everyday realities of ministry. Those experiences helped shape not only her faith but also her understanding of the power music has to encourage, comfort, and inspire.

Over the years, Shelly has shared her gift in a variety of settings—from weddings and funerals to worship nights, prayer breakfasts, conferences, community events, corporate gatherings, political events, and ministry opportunities throughout the Southeast and beyond. Whether singing before a large audience or ministering in a more intimate setting, her approach has always remained the same: serve faithfully and point people toward Christ.

While Shelly had previously recorded two successful cover albums, You’re Still Speaking marked a new chapter in her journey. It became her first original project under Love Lyrics & Company and her first opportunity to introduce listeners to a collection of songs written specifically to honor the legacy of the man who first inspired her love for ministry.

Throughout the recording process, there were moments when the songs felt less like performances and more like conversations with memories. The messages were familiar because they reflected lessons learned from our father. The emotions were genuine because they were rooted in shared experiences. Every song carried a piece of our family’s story.

Listeners often comment on the sincerity they hear in Shelly’s voice. The truth is, that sincerity cannot be manufactured. It comes from a life lived in faith, from years spent serving others, and from a genuine belief in the message she sings.

That authenticity became one of the defining characteristics of You’re Still Speaking and ultimately helped connect the project with listeners across multiple genres and countries.

Together, we weren’t simply creating music. We were honoring a legacy.
