For Ed Mowery, music has never been confined to a stage. It has been a lifelong pursuit shaped by decades of touring, recording, producing, and continually evolving as both an artist and entrepreneur. This summer, that journey came full circle as the founder of TIWANAKU joined longtime friend Wade Black and Astronomica for two special festival performances in Europe, celebrating a musical partnership that has endured for years.
The performances at Japara Festival in Pleven, Bulgaria, and Golden R Fest in Volos, Greece reunited two respected figures in heavy metal while introducing new audiences to the chemistry that has long connected their careers. Earlier this year, Wade Black also returned to TIWANAKU as an original member, making the European appearances a meaningful continuation of their shared history.
Mowery’s career has taken him from international touring with progressive death metal pioneers Nocturnus to founding TIWANAKU, a band known for blending progressive musicianship with cinematic storytelling inspired by ancient civilizations, archaeology, and humanity’s origins. His work has consistently reflected a desire to create music that challenges listeners while remaining true to the spirit of heavy metal.
Beyond performing, Mowery has expanded his impact through Particle Collider Records, where he serves as CEO and continues supporting independent artists while developing TIWANAKU’s growing international presence. His work as a producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter reflects an artist who has embraced every aspect of the creative process rather than limiting himself to a single role.
