The release follows Scala’s recent work with MrBeast, Mark Rober, and global influencers on the record-breaking #Teamwater campaign, which reached over 1 billion people, raised $41 million, and will provide clean water to more than 2 million people across 22 countries in partnership with WaterAid. Known for using his platforms to drive social change, Scala works with CEOs, celebrities, athletes, and foundations worldwide. His partner in Delta Underground, Greg Alsop, brings his own legacy after a sold-out farewell tour with Tokyo Police Club, looking ahead to this next creative chapter.
The collaboration took shape after both artists relocated to Los Angeles—Alsop from Toronto and Scala from New York—bonding over shared influences from Prince, Bowie, and U2. Writing together in Alsop’s Valley studio, their sound crystallized during a songwriting retreat in a medieval castle in Tuscany with collaborators Will Wells (Logic, Hamilton, Imagine Dragons), Marcus Miller (OneRepublic, Jon Batiste), and Kristian Attard (Zedd, Jason Mraz). Immersed in the setting, the group wrote songs inspired by far-off places, imaginary realms, and the dreamlike space between reality and fantasy.
Out of these sessions came “I Won’t Give You Up”—a high-energy post-summer anthem with a soaring chorus and infectious saxophone hook. The track blends longing, intimacy, and adventure, painting the story of lovers separated by distance but bound by unshakable connection. Its message is one of resilience and devotion: “I Won’t Give You Up.”
Looking ahead, Delta Underground will release more singles through 2025-2026 leading up to their debut album and a performance at SXSW 2026, with additional tour dates to be announced. Beyond music, the duo continues their humanitarian efforts through Scala’s Foundation for Youth, supporting initiatives in school construction, circular economies, mental health, and disaster relief across more than 30 countries.
