Hi Luma – we’re very excited to get to know you and your new music!  Let’s get right to it –>

“Alive” is described as a ‘vibrant anthem to the power of friendship.’ Can you share the deeply personal moment or realization that inspired you to write a song celebrating this specific, essential form of love?

There’s a moment in every life when you realize that friendship is one of the purest forms of love. It’s the kind that holds you steady when everything else falls apart. That realization inspired Alive.

A dear friend of mine went through a painful separation, and being there for her helped me see friendship through new eyes. It reminded me that the bonds we build outside of romance can save us, heal us, and bring us back to life. I felt so much gratitude for the people in my own life who had done that for me, the friends who became family, the ones who stayed when everything else shifted.

That feeling became the heartbeat of Alive, a celebration of love in its purest, most human form. The song honors the people who lift us higher when we forget our strength, who remind us that we are seen and supported, and who help us rise again.

We don’t throw friendships away, we grow through them, at least the ones that matter. The Alive music video mirrors that truth. It follows a woman whose boyfriend leaves her, and her best friend becomes her anchor. It’s a visual love letter to that kind of bond that reminds you that you are never really alone.

Alive is about the power of friendship to lift us, to bring us back to life, and to remind us that love in all its forms is what keeps us human.

You’ve said your music is driven by the message that ‘love and authenticity are the real revolutions.’ How does this philosophy manifest in the lyrics and melody of “Alive”?

For me, love and authenticity are the antidotes to fear, and Alive was born from that realization. It came from witnessing how friendship, compassion, and honesty can heal us. Real love isn’t always romantic. Sometimes it’s the courage to show up, to forgive, and to hold space for the people who matter even when life feels imperfect.

I actually began writing Alive on a plane on my way to meet Humberto Gatica. I was reflecting on the people who had helped me stay grounded through change, and the melody and words started flowing. That moment of gratitude became the heart of the song.

The lyrics celebrate being your authentic self, being messy, emotional, beautifully human, while the melody captures the joy and freedom that come when you reconnect with love in its purest form. It’s upbeat, full of positive energy and celebration, because healing feels incredible when you have these kinds of real human connections.

Musically, we built Alive like a heartbeat, with real instruments layered with modern textures, a blend of warmth and energy. It’s the sound of remembering who you are, reclaiming your light, and realizing that love is in friendship, in family, in yourself, and it’s what keeps us alive. That’s what I mean when I say love and authenticity are revolutions. They change your frequency, and they change your life.

As a singer-songwriter, what is your typical creative process like? Do you start with a cosmic energy/concept, a melody, or the emotional truth of the lyrics?

I don’t have a fixed creative process. I meditate so that I can stay open and be a clear channel for a higher energy that I call God. Some weeks I write every day, other weeks I don’t write at all. Then suddenly, I’ll see something, hear someone’s story, or feel an emotion so strong that the music just arrives.

For me, it’s simple. I ask, I wait, and I receive. Creation isn’t about control, it’s about surrender. I believe songs are gifts that come through us when we’re aligned and our hearts are quiet enough to hear them.

Every lyric and melody feels like a message meant to be delivered. I just stay open, listen, and allow it to come through. That’s where the magic happens, in trust, not in force. Not all songs are created this way, but mine are. Each one is born from a higher place, carried on the frequency of something divine.

The single is a “frequency of love, joy, and inner strength.” For listeners needing that ‘reignited spirit,’ what message do you hope they take away after listening to “Alive”?

I want Alive to remind people that they’re stronger than they think and that love and connection are what bring us back to life. The song is about those moments when you’ve been through something hard, maybe lost a piece of yourself, and then realize you’re still here, surrounded by the people who truly see you.

It’s a frequency of joy, but also of healing. There’s power in being vulnerable and in allowing yourself to feel everything, the pain, the laughter, and the gratitude. Alive was born from the realization that friendship and love are lifelines. Without those connections, a part of us feels lost and almost lifeless. But when we have people who hold space for us, who remind us who we are, we feel alive again.

I hope when people listen, they feel reconnected to their own light, to the people they love, and to the part of themselves that still believes in magic. I hope they share it or even gift it to a friend, to someone who needs to feel seen or lifted again. This song’s frequency was created to make you feel alive, strong, and ready to take on the world. It is a celebration of friendship, healing, and the strength that comes from those reminders that real friendship and true connection are important in our lives, and that we should celebrate them.

You are a ‘modern muse redefining what it means to be an artist.’ What does that title mean to you, and what walls do you hope to break down between different artistic disciplines?

Being a modern muse means being both the canvas and the creator. It’s about embracing every side of who I am, a model, a designer, a musician, and a storyteller, and letting them flow together as one expression.

There are no walls between these worlds anymore. Fashion, music, and consciousness are all part of the same creative energy. For me, it’s about showing that art is vibration. Whether it’s a lyric, a gown, or a photograph, the intention is the same, to move people, to make them feel.

At its heart, being a modern muse is about authenticity, creating from your truth and knowing that this is perfection, whether it’s messy or not. It’s about being fully present, fully yourself, and inspiring others to express their own light without limitation.

The EP title is The Alive Frequency (Frequencia Viva). What is the significance of including the Portuguese/Spanish phrase “Frequencia Viva,” and how does your international experience tie into your work?

Frequencia Viva means “The Alivie Frequency,” and that phrase carries deep meaning for me. It connects this project to my roots, my travels, and the many cultures that have shaped who I am. My family’s heritage bridges Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, and Puerto Rico, and I was raised in a home where music was part of everyday life and a source of calm, joy, and connection.

In our family, we shared songs the way some people share letters. We’d say, “This song reminds me of you,” or dedicate a melody to someone we loved. That’s where I first learned that music is more than sound. It’s energy, emotion, and a language of the soul.

That’s what The Alive Frequency represents, that living vibration that connects us all, beyond language or borders. Including both English and Spanish in the title honors my heritage and reflects that universality. Music transcends culture, and this EP is my way of celebrating that shared frequency of life and love.

Consciousness is a core part of your brand. How do you practice or incorporate a ‘higher frequency’ mindset in your daily life, and how do you ensure that translates authentically into your music?

Before I make music, I tune myself like an instrument. For me, higher frequency begins in stillness, in that quiet moment before creation, when I align my thoughts, energy, and spirit. I meditate every morning and practice gratitude before I record or write anything. That ritual grounds me. It’s how I make sure every note carries intention.

When I step into the studio, that same energy follows me. I make sure the space feels clear physically and emotionally. I light candles, play certain tones, and let the vibration guide the music. It’s not about perfection, it’s about presence. That’s where the art comes alive and that’s what makes it eternal.

I don’t plan the magic, I allow it. I already live in that higher space where the unexpected becomes expected, and where what seems like coincidence is actually connection. The universe is always speaking, always co-creating with me. My job is to listen and turn that energy into sound.

Your modeling work spans various genres—couture, bridal, and swimwear—and you are described as radiating ‘strength, grace, and timeless sophistication.’ Which of these qualities do you feel is most essential to Luma Valen, the recording artist?

Grace is the foundation of everything I do. In modeling, grace is presence, that quiet confidence that fills a room without a word. In music, it becomes the ability to hold space and emotion for others to feel something through your presence, your voice, your words, the music, and the way you move.

Strength gives structure to that grace, and timelessness comes from stripping away everything that isn’t real. It’s about becoming a clear vessel for truth and letting people see every emotion without self judgment. When you stop trying to be perfect and simply are, you align with something higher, and what comes through you touches others.

When you’re real, your energy never goes out of style. Those qualities of strength, grace, and authenticity flow through both worlds. They’re the frequency of Luma Valen.

For me, grace, strength, and authenticity all come back to one thing, purpose. When you know why you’re here and why you are doing something, everything you do becomes alignment instead of effort. Grace is walking in that purpose with confidence and humility. Strength is staying centered in it when life tests you. Timelessness is what happens when you stop performing and simply live the truth you were created for.

When I’m in purpose, I don’t have to chase anything. I just walk in it, and the right people, sounds, and moments rise to meet me. That’s what I mean by frequency, it’s the vibration of living your purpose fully awake.

Are there any specific designers or fashion houses you’ve worked with—such as Le Spousa Di Gio or Trish Peng—whose aesthetics or creative ethos you found inspiring for your own Luma Valen brand?

Absolutely. Each designer I’ve worked with has taught me something about storytelling, passion, and the power of dreams through design. Their collections only truly come alive when they’re worn, when that vision is embodied and shared. As a model, I get to be part of that transformation, to show women how they might see themselves on one of the most meaningful days of their lives.

Both Le Spousa Di Gio and Trish Peng design for brides, yet they express femininity in such distinct ways. Le Spousa Di Gio embodies timeless grace and romance, while Trish Peng creates from a place of purity, softness, and exquisite detail.

I’ve always been inspired by designers who lead with heart, and two who deeply shaped my creative path are Gianni Versace and Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior. Gianni’s world began in his imagination as a child. He dreamed it before he built it, and that idea changed me. I even learned Italian just to understand the language of his interviews and read his biography in Italian. His vision taught me that creativity has no limits, and it inspired me to apply to FIT, where I was accepted with a full scholarship. At the time, I was young and drawn to the beautiful light and the creative energy of California, so I decided to attend FIDM in Los Angeles instead. That experience opened my world to music, art, and the spirit of creative freedom. Being surrounded by so many dreamers in a city where fashion, film, and sound collide helped me see that design and music are born from the same source.

Another designer who fascinates me is Iris van Herpen. There’s something truly otherworldly about her creations, as if she channels energy from beyond this plane and turns it into form. Her work feels cosmic, like from a place beyond this time. I would love to collaborate with her one day. Her designs embody the mystic frequency that lives within my music and vision.

These designers remind me that creation starts in the imagination, followed by passion, purpose, and connection. That’s what I want for my own brand, to make people feel connected and identify with the Luma Valen brand. Fashion that carries energy, light, and meaning, not just beauty.

Do you have a personal style mantra or philosophy? And is this mantra the same when you’re preparing for a Vogue shoot versus a meeting with a Grammy-winning producer?

I dress and show up every day as Luma Valen, the artist, the muse, the mother, the wife, the friend. It’s about essence and intention and how you think, feel, and create each day.

For me, style is energy. It’s how I embody my purpose and express what I want to give to the world. My music is made to move hearts and awaken something deeper in everyone. We only have today, and music to me is the antidote that transcends words.

So I live in that energy now, fully present, fully myself, already living in that world that I created.
