Gal Gadot’s induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame and her star ceremony did not proceed smoothly.
The star of Wonder Woman, multiple Fast & Furious films, and the impending live-action Snow White, in which she portrays Rachel Zegler’s malevolent queen in the title role of a fairytale princess, was praised by former coworkers. Those who hailed Gadot included Wonder Woman and her sequel director Patty Jenkins and Fast & Furious star and producer Vin Diesel.
Born in Israel, Gadot has been an outspoken supporter of her nation in its war against Hamas, a Palestinian militant organization that killed Israelis in October 2023 and continues to hold several captives. Protesters from all sides of the dispute were out for Gadot’s event. The local KTLA claims that there was “physical contact” and that obscenities and slurs were yelled.
There were no arrests, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Norma Eisenman told EW. There was no statement from the department.
Variety claims that there were several dozen protesters there, two dozen on either side of the tented area where the ceremony was held. (Ceremonies are typically held outside.) During the ceremony, which included at least one foot pursuit by police following the theft of a flag, protesters could be heard.
Roma Ealaicos was among those chanting at the location. He told the newspaper, “We are all really upset about what is happening in Gaza right now.” “The Israeli military has killed 400 innocent people without cause over the past year and a half, particularly in the last 24 to 48 hours.” “There is no reason we should be celebrating an Israeli,” he believed.
In contrast, Dana Nikri stated that she had lost friends who had been “murdered” on October 7, 2023, during the Nova Music Festival. Israel reported that a Hamas attack claimed 1,200 lives and resulted in over 250 hostages. “They enter our house, remove us, and give us dead children,” she claimed. “We do not want war, and we do not start it.”
Diesel, Gadot’s Fast & Furious co-star, honored her as a “family member” during all of this. During his address, he seemed preoccupied, either by the yelling or by problems with the audio. “I just love her so much!” was the best way for him to express how he felt.
Entertainment Weekly recognized Ana Martinez, a producer on the Walk of Fame. “We experienced a sound issue for a moment. Though not very loud, there was some chanting. As is customary for our star ceremonies, police were present, but they stayed out of the way. For our honoree and her family, the day was lovely.
