Latasha McNeil a new R&B sensation, was raised as a God-fearing young church girl and was in a youth choir at an early age and spent most of my listening to gospel legends such as Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary, and other great gospel legends to fill the void of my mom passing.

I was adopted in Durham, North Carolina, and went to Githens Middle School, where I ran track & was also in the school band and played the clarinet. I started listening to secular music like Silk, Dru Hill, Boyz II Men, Donell Jones, and Usher. I later enhanced my love for a deeper meaning of music when transitioning to high school. I attended Jordan High School and later transferred to Hillside High School, where my love of music grew more and more, especially while I was in the school choir. I’ve always had an ear for music, and I found comfort listening to different genres of music, and it is soo true that the love of music helped me get through tough times such as the wonderful Mary J. Blige. Later she graduated from Hillside High School. I attended some college courses and then decided to reconnect with her biological dad, who resided in Phoenix, Arizona. I started exploring my different talents, such as creating a fashion line and songwriting, while supporting myself working for American Airlines for 10 years.

What I thought could possibly be my dream just wasn’t. Although I love working for American, my love for expressing myself through songwriting and music captured my soul and spirit even more. So, I started recording music in 2020 and really invested more of myself in obtaining studio time and really push myself to different levels of range in my voice and lyrical expression. I didn’t start writing my own music until 2022 and received great feedback, so I decided to continue. I made certain changes in my life after residing in Phoenix for 8 years. I decided to move to Florida and followed my prayers as I started looking for a new studio to record my music to become a major artist in the music industry as well as the creation of my stage name, Karmaa.
